Philip Benett, BHSII BHSSM (Regd) NCF, is a freelance teacher with a broad equestrian background. He has worked with Hunters, Eventers, Show Jumpers, Endurance Horses, Show Horses and Dressage Horses. He ran his own successful Hunting and Competition livery yard in Oxfordshire and has been a manager and Chief Instructor in large teaching establishments.
His Competition experience has included Dressage, Show Jumping, Horse Trials, Showing etc.

He has received help and training from, amongst others, Marie Stokes FBHS, Harry Douglas FBHS, Stella Welsh BHSI, Carol Green BHSI, Goran Breisner BHSI, Alex Drew BHSI, Donald Kear BHSI, Lars Sederholm, Charles de Kunffy (Hungarian born rider, teacher and Dressage judge based in California).

For many years now, Philip has concentrated on teaching riders of all standards and ages both on the flat and jumping. He is now available to teach riders on their own horses, clinics, coach Riding Club teams, present lecture / demonstrations, advise on purchase of suitable horses, etc., etc.

Philip was on of the first members of the "Training The Teachers of Tomorrow Trust" - a charitable organisation dedicated to the training of young instructors in Classical Horsemanship. His teaching is based on the principles of European Classical riding, a centuries old tradition and the only sound foundation for all equestrian activities requiring correct gymnastic development of the horse.

The mental and physical well being of the horse should be the priority, he rider has to develop a balanced, independent position in the saddle in order to harmonise with the movement and develop effective influences on the horse in a way which brings out and maximises his natural ability.

Philip gains great pleasure and satisfaction from helping others to achieve their goals, whether that is competition success or simply increased pleasure from their horses and riding.
